All of the ingredients needed to make S'mores

I’ve seen the fancy new ideas for S’mores over the years and I have quickly dismissed them. I mean, why mess with perfection? The standard s’more is a classic and in my opinion cannot be replaced.

Recently however, I started to wonder if in fact there could be something better out there than the classic favorite.

So during our latest camping trip at the amazing Strawberry Park in Preston, CT, dear friends of ours helped us taste test three different types of s’mores . There was a definitive and unanimous winner.

Here are the three we tried and their ranking:

3. The Peeps S’more

Peep's S'mores

The peeps s’more was straight up fun! It was mostly a novelty type experience and not our favorite tasting s’more, but totally worth doing at least once.

The concept makes sense. After all, it is a marshmallow. If you love, love, love sugary sweet, this sugar coated marshmallow s’more may be for you. Though the kids went bonkers for it…we ranked it third place in our taste test.

2. Fudge Stripe Cookie S’mores

Fudge Stripe Cookie S'mores

The fudge stripe cookie s’more is the easiest s’more you will ever make because it is a two ingredient deal. The cookie takes the place of the graham cracker and already has the chocolate on it! It is a bit messy since there is chocolate on both sides of the cookie, but I assure you, it is totally worth it. Just toast up your marshmallow and stick it between two fudge stripe cookies.

We were all very pleased with this one, it was absolutely delicious. Quite honestly, I thought there was no way our final contender could beat it. I was wrong.

And the winner is.….

1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup S’mores

A happy man and woman eating s'mores

From our first bite of the reese’s peanut butter cup s’more, we all knew it was the winner. In this modification of the original s’more, a peanut butter cup takes the place of the plain chocolate bar. The toasted marshmallow melts the chocolate and peanut butter between the graham crackers, and it is true perfection.

You can use any of your favorite chocolate based candies here. Rolo also works quite well. Be creative! Think outside of the graham cracker box.

So we are now left with the question, do these fancy s’mores beat out the original? You tell me!
